We love that this medicine protects against heartworm AND fleas (and other worms). It's the best! I have a mini Australian Shepherd and he can't take a lot of heartworm medications with a certain ingredient so this is perfect for him.
My dog has not been diagnosed with heartworms or other worms since she started Sentinel at 1 yr. She is now 9. The product is a bit pricey. No major flea infestations...live in country. Highly recommend Seresto flea collar for active flea control.

Two studies in heartworm-infected dogs were conducted which demonstrated mild, transient hypersensitivity reactions in treated dogs with high microfilaremia counts (see Precautions for reactions observed). Safety studies in pregnant dogs demonstrated that high doses (1.5 mg/kg = 3X) of milbemycin oxime given in an exaggerated dosing regimen (daily from mating through weaning), resulted in measurable concentrations of the drug in milk.
