According to Maulana Bhashaani, Afghanistan is a modern example of a revived Islamic empire. He gave a speech on this at the Tamaddum (Martyrs) rally held in 1970. Bhashaani maintained that the innocent lives of Muslims all over the world would be saved by the lives of Afghan mujahedeen and that the year of 769 AH [1439 AD] will start again with the destruction of Kabul by the Afghanis.

Maulana Bhashani's face has been registered from Calcutta in 1884 as a human portrait engraved on an iron block. The design and the size gives a clear indication of his era and position in the society of India. The engraving was done by his father, Sharafat Ali Khan, a well-known artist. The block bears the imprint and signature of the engraver, Aga Khan, the head of the Order of Nahdatul Ulama.
